The 2018 PNW Direct Seed Conference gets underway from the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick Tuesday.  Direct Seed Association Executive Director Kay Meyer, said they will cover a variety of strategies during the two day event.  She said they will focus on improving soil heath, crop rotation, advances in technology.  She told the Washington Ag Network this is a show geared toward farmers, free of a pushy sales pitch.

“Opportunities for farmers to discuss what’s working and not working in their operation.  That really our focus when we’re bringing speakers on.  And we’re really focused down at that production level.  Then a lot of Q&A, and opportunities for networking.”

Meyer acknowledged there are several microclimates across the Inland Northwest, with their own unique challenges.  She said they work to address those specific issues during the conference.

“So, we always try and make sure we bring in speakers from the different rainfall zones that are doing annual cropping as well as the crop fallow.”
