After several mornings of waking up to a thin layer of ice coating the outdoors this winter, and local store shelves crowded with deicers, you may be wondering what is the best choice?
Kansas State University Extension Expert Ward Upham said reach for calcium magnesium acetate, until it reaches about 15 degrees.
He adds rock salt is the most popular option because it is the cheapest but it will not get you far if it is below 20 degrees and it damages cement and plants.  He suggest buying calcium magnesium acetate or calcium chloride.
