Trade opportunities continue to be a focus of the dairy industry and agriculture in general.  Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue talked about trade opportunity, some realized, and other still in the planning phases at the first day of the World Dairy Expo in Wisconsin.

"Japan deal will be good for dairy," Perdue said.  "And beef and pork and wheat primarily and other crops as well."

He added USMCA will be good for the Ag community, if ratified.

"I think it will be good certainly in the dairy industry and it will be good for poultry, eggs, and others."

Perdue remains encouraged by ongoing U.S./Chinese talks to resolve trade differences between those nations.  Yet he  added the need for diversification of markets for our nation's Ag exports, which makes markets like India, Thailand, Vietnam and others so important.
