Perdue Applauds Trump’s USDA Rural Utility Services Administrator Selection
Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue offered his applause to President Trump’s intent to appoint Kenneth Johnson to be the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utility Service Administrator. Perdue said Johnson ‘s experience with rural utilities, including expanding access to high-speed Internet, “will serve us well as we strive to increase prosperity across rural America.”
Johnson serves as general manager and CEO of Co-Mo Electric Cooperative and President for Co-Mo Connect in Tipton, Missouri. The cooperative is the first to deploy a fiber-to-the-home network to all its members without federal or state funding, providing gigabit internet, video and voice services to nearly 16,000 subscribers. Johnson has also worked for the Twin Valleys Public Power District in Nebraska, as well as the Nebraska Public Power District.
In the same statement, Perdue urged the Senate to act quickly in confirming other pending nominations to USDA, including the nomination of Iowa’s Bill Northey to a top USDA post.
