When asked how the public, in general, views water, Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue decided to use an analogy

“We don’t think about 911 until that chest pain hits, or that car crash comes," Perdue said.  "We just take it for granted.  And that’s the problem with water, is we take it for granted.”

Perdue made those remarks during a recent water symposium at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins.  Former USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack asked the questions during the forum.

“If you had a couple of high school kids here, a couple of middle school kids, what would be the message that you would convey to them about water?” Vilsack asked.

“I’d probably ask to smart young people if they could develop a water app that taught all kids about water wars,” Perdue answered.  “They’d have all of these wars that they fight on these video games.  Do a video game about water wars and make that, have it go ubiquitous like fourth night, or whatever it is, they’re playing now.”
