The USDA reported a decline in the condition of the nation's pastures and rangeland this past week.

"We now see 40% rated good-to-excellent, 30% very poor-to-poor,” said USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey.

So, he subtracted 1% from the good-to-excellent account and added 1% to the very poor-to-poor list.  Overall for the country, this time of the year, going back to the mid-90s, these are about mid-range numbers.  Pastures looking really good in the upper Midwest and east, but in the southwest.

In the far west, Oregon pastures are 57% very poor-to-poor.
