Pasture Conditions Remain Dry In The West
After the summer the Northwest has experienced, it should come as no surprise that pasture conditions in the area don’t look great to start the month of October. USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey noted some of the driest lands are in the Great Plains, and out here in the West.
“Leading the way in the West this week is Washington state 72% of the rangeland and pastures very poor to poor.”
And it’s not just the Evergreen state that’s dealing with dry conditions.
“Also above 50% includes Oregon Montana Wyoming, Arizona and South Dakota," Rippey said. He also noted several states in the east will see pasture conditions improve in the coming weeks as the remnants of Hurricane Helene dump sizeable precipitation in areas that were extremely dry.
