USDA Out With Farm Income Numbers For NW, Nation
USDA’s latest farm income forecast shows a stronger 2025 for agriculture nationwide. Gross farm income rose 5% nationwide to $653 billion, while production expenses reached $486 billion.

Here in the Northwest, Washington's gross farm income hit $15 billion, a year-over-year drop of 2%, while Oregon's farm income increased 4% to $9.3 billion, and Idaho reported gross farm income of $13.6 billion in 2025, a 2% increase from a year earlier.
The top 10 states in the U.S. in terms of agricultural income accounted for more than 50% of the nation’s real gross farm income. Rounding out the top 10 states in terms of real gross farm income are Nebraska ($41 billion), Kansas ($33 billion), Minnesota ($29 billion), Illinois ($26 billion), North Carolina ($20 billion), Indiana ($19 billion) and Wisconsin ($19 billion).

Inflation-adjusted U.S. net farm income jumped nearly 23% last year, reaching $167 billion nationwide, fueled by record livestock receipts and federal assistance programs. When looking at local net income, Idaho led the way at $3.7 billion, with Oregon reporting $2.5 billion, and a net farm income of $1.8 billion in Washington.

The numbers show that, despite continued pressure from high input costs, stronger commodity and livestock returns, along with federal support, helped many regions, many commodities improve farm profitability in 2025.
