Parrella Confident University of Idaho’s CALS Progress Will Continue
It’s been a time of transition in Moscow, after long-time University of Idaho College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Dean Michael Parrella retired June 20th. Fortunately for the U of I, they didn’t need to look far for Parrella’s replacement.
Leslie Edgar, formerly at neighboring Washington State University, took the helm of the college last month.
The College Is In Good Hands
Parrella noted the plan was for the transition to Edgar to be a smooth one, allowing him to retire on a Friday, and for her to start on the following Monday. And he noted Edgar will continue the progress CALS has enjoyed for the past nine years.
“Meeting with her, talking about how the college is managed. You know, how we've done things so far and what the challenges are moving forward, I've had some great interactions with her about that. I'll be here to answer any questions she may have moving forward, but we have a great group of both staff and faculty that make up deans and directors and I think you know they have been with me for most of my time here. So, they have a really thorough understanding of what to do and what not to do.”
Parrella was quick to point out that Edgar, an Idaho native, will put her own stamp on projects at the U of I. Under Parrella’s leadership, the University of Idaho’s College of Ag is now ranked #13 in the nation.
