Oregon Launches Hotline To Help Those Impacted By Wildfires

Last Week, Oregon’s Department of Human Services launched a statewide hotline in response to the devastating fire season.  What was originally called the Disaster Case Management Hotline launched in 2020 to help those who lost their homes in the Labor Day Fires.  This year, the wildfire assistance hotline is open to anyone looking for resources.

"Now, that could be people experiencing wildfire smoke, it could be people who do need to evacuate or have evacuated," said Ed Flick, with ODHS.  He added the hotline doesn’t replace the Department of Transportation’s Tripcheck.com for wildfire traffic updates, or county emergency alerts for evacuations.

"Emergency services are focused on life-saving actions," Flick said.  "This is more about how do we connect to support for people’s more basic needs?"
