Options To Connect Rural Communities To Broadband

How can rural communities and regions connect with the resources they need to bring in high-speed broadband e-connectivity?  One way is through the resources offered by a new USDA tool kit.

"The e-Connectivity Toolkit lists 27 different programs that can be resources to helping communities bring the broadband, fiber or however, that these communities determine that they need to build to have that infrastructure."

The Acting Administrator of Rural Development's Rural Utility Service Betty Brand says the eConnectivity Tool-kit mirrors USDA's "Reconnect" pilot program announced last December.  That program was designed to facilitate broadband deployment in rural areas lacking sufficient service.

"The toolkit will actually give people a link and sort of lays it out in a very user-friendly format that they can read and help see what programs customize for their particular communities.”
