ODFW Confirms Two Depredations In Baker County
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed Monday that two calves were killed by wolves in Baker County late last week. Investigators were called out to a pair of two-month-old calves, found by hunters on a large public land allotment. It appears the calves died late Thursday or early Friday.
ODFW said both calves showed clear evidence of attack by a predator. In addition, blood was found on nearby vegetation as well wolf tracks throughout the area. Both animals had pre-mortem tooth scrapes up to ¼” wide.
Both depredations have been attributed to the Keating Pack. These are the second and third depredations reported in Baker County this year.
