As we continue our Outlook of 2018 with Northwest Farm Credit Services, we transition to Northwest row crops.  Karen Witt, Vice President at NWFCS said potato growers should see strong returns through the end of the 2017-18 marketing season, due to limited supply.

“Currently, Idaho grower returns are double and triple of those last year.  Columbia Basin growers with contracted acres are seeing price increase of about 5% for 2018, and another 4% for 2019.”

Witt adds although onion being shipped from Mexico and California have depressed prices somewhat,  “Prices are still higher than they were at this time last year.  This year, with the mild winter and ample water for the 2018 growing season, our outlook is for profitable returns for onion producers.”

Join us Thursday morning as we look at wines and cherries.
