The National Pork Producers Council is urging President Trump to take advantage of Japan Prime Minister Sinzo Abe’s visit this weekend to initiate conversations on a trade deal with the island nation.

NPPC is joined in a letter to the White House by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association urging these talks.

NCBA President Craig Uden said in a statement that, “A successful, comprehensive agreement with Japan would result in one of the greatest trade agreements for the U.S. pork and beef industries and for many other sectors.”

Abe will be in the U.S. beginning Friday to discuss security challenges, bilateral trade among other topics.
