Northwest Vegetable Conference Hits 30
The Pacific Northwest Vegetable Growers Association is holding their 30th annual conference in Kennewick this week. Association President Gina Gray told the Washington Ag Network hitting this milestone is a special event.
“Yes, I mean it’s exciting to see all of our growers come together. We bring in great speakers for our sessions. That brings in a lot of growers, and we have a lot of vendors in our trade show as well.”
Gray added they work every year to bring in experts so they can discuss the issues impacting northwest growers. Gray added the vegetable industry makes a big impact on the Northwest Ag economy.
“When you think of Washington, you think of apples, but you don’t think about carrots, onions, potatoes, and all of those other crops that are grown. Asparagus is one that’s grown around here. And vegetable growers are huge in this area even though a lot of them are minor crops they are just huge in the area and make a huge impact.”
Says one of the biggest events Thursday will be pesticide credit classes, which she said should fill up soon. The second day of the Veggie Conference runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
