The Washington Capital Budget approved late Sunday evening, includes $15 million for the EL 22.1 System, better known as the north I-90 Odessa Aquifer Ground Water Replacement Project.

With irrigation wells in the Odessa Subarea declining for several years now, this funding has become a top priority for many in the Washington Ag Community.  The North I-90 Project looks to build a surface water irrigation system north of the freeway and east of Moses Lake via the East Low canal.  Estimates says the project will eventually provide water to several thousands of acres, benefiting potato, sweet corn, onion growers and many others in Grant and Adams counties.

Supporters thanked the efforts of senators Mark Schoesler, Judy Warnick, Jim Honeyford, as well as Representatives Mary Dye, Tom Dent, Joe Schmick, and Alex Ybarra.
