NFU Applauds White House’s Infrastructure Plan
On Monday, the White House released its principles to rebuild America’s long-neglected infrastructure. The plan includes $200 billion in federal investment over ten years, $50 billion of which is designated for rural projects. National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson said his organization is encouraged that the Administration acknowledged the need for a significant investment in rural infrastructure.
“With over $3.6 trillion required to overcome decades of deferred maintenance, our nation’s roads, bridges, rails, locks and dams, water and waste systems, and rural broadband are in desperate need of robust funding.”
Johnson added that NFU is looking forward to working with Congress to maximize opportunities to improve rural America’s failing infrastructure.
