Before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s safe to say many Americans with little or no on-farm experience gave little thought to the farming sector. However because of the spread of COVID-19, supply chain disruptions and food shortages in some communities, more and more Americans want to know from where their food comes.

‘It’s not only a nutrition issue, but it’s also a national security issue," said Central Washington's Dan Newhouse. "And we want to make sure that farmers and ranchers can continue to provide that food supply and keep our grocery store stocked.”

Newhouse said he’s especially proud how the farming community continued to work day in and day out during the heart of the pandemic, providing the high quality food, fiber and fuel Americans have come to expect.

When it comes to helping the Ag community at the conclusion of the pandemic, trade and market access will be his top priorities in D.C.
