Newhouse Leadership Role Benefits Washington

Last month, Upland Vineyards owner Todd Newhouse was elected chairman pf the Winegrape Growers of America.  Newhouse said the election was a personal honor, but he feels it will also benefit all Washington winegrape growers.  He added with California responsible for so much of the wine produced in the United States, it’s a good thing for Washington to have such an important seat at the table.

“It just puts the state, in general in the limelight a bit more, and you know, we’re able to show the other players what we’re capable of, what we can do, and that we deserve to be on the big stage.”

During his tenure as Chairman, Newhouse said he wants to focus on research dollars as well as improving collaboration on existing and future projects to ensure the best wine for consumers.  Since 1978 WGA has represented wine grape growers nationwide.
