Late last month the EPA announced it was starting the processes of removing the Waters of the U.S. Rules, better known as WOTUS.  The rule had been fought by many ag groups and organizations from different backgrounds, for a variety of reasons.  Central Washington’s Dan Newhouse told the Washington Ag Network the effort to undo WOTUS started three years ago, before he became a representative.  He added he fully supports the EPA’s policy change.

“We can come up with a common sense rule that does all that we want it to protect clean water, as well as water and property rights of the landowners, our farmers and ranchers.”

Newhouse says it is important the EPA works with rural America to ensure the interest of farmers are represented in any future efforts.
