Representative Dan Newhouse sent a letter to new EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt earlier this month, asking him to follow through on the previous administration’s commitment to reviewing its protocols when it comes to use of grant money.  Subgrant money from the EPA was used to fund the “What’s Upstream” campaign that many believe was a direct attack on dairy farmers in Northwestern Washington.

Newhouse told the Washington Ag Network he wants to see the EPA and other federal agencies follow the laws on the books.

“Taxpayer dollars cannot be used for lobbying purposes.  That’s something that needs to be underscored, particularly since we’ve seen from this agency (EPA) in a couple of incidences work outside what I think are the restrictions of the law.”
