As the state of Idaho’s population increases, it’s the cities that see the most growth, and many of these people are not familiar with the Ag industry.  Cameron Mulrony, Executive Vice President of the Idaho Cattle Association says it’s important to share with these new Idahoans, and anyone not connected to the farming industry, the important role the cattle sector plays in the Gem state.

“And just remember that proper livestock grazing is a is a tool in fire management. And I point that out because we are experiencing a lot of smoke across the state and those folks who are new to Idaho, maybe haven't experienced that in the past.  We just want to make sure that and remind them that fuel reduction through cattle grazing is a tool that needs to be utilized in order to hopefully slow the spread of these fires. When they do happen naturally from lightning, but also that human caused fires.”

Mulrony added he wants everyone across the state to enjoy their public lands, but also understand the important role cattle and livestock play to keep those lands maintained.
