In an effort to encourage the next generation of farmers Eastern Washington’s representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers has cosponsored the Student Agriculture Protection Act.  The Republican says this legislation will benefit students participating in 4-H and FFA

“There income, from their animals, when they sell them at the fair, like I did when I had 4-H animals, would not face a tax penalty, as a way to encourage the next generation of farmers.”

If approved, the bill would amend the IRS code to exclude the gross income of a student farmers up to $5,000 of the gain from their livestock sale or exchange.  Click Here, to learn more about the Student Agriculture Protection Act.
