Trade missions and trade shows highlight a busy spring of activities for the Oregon Department of Agriculture.  ODA trade development managers work year around to bring buyer and seller together.  But, spring 2018 is filled with a variety of activities, says ODA’s Theresa Yoshioka.

“March is when we really get busy. So we’re going to begin with the Foodex Trade Show. I’ll be taking a group of 14 western US companies to exhibit at this show. Foodex is the largest food and beverage show in Asia. At the same time, my colleagues will be down in Anaheim for the West Coast’s largest show, which is the Natural Products Expo West.”

Also on the agenda for ODA and Oregon companies this spring is a large seafood show in Boston, a major food ingredients show in China, as well as a trade mission to China led by ODA Director Alexis Taylor.  At each event and activity, Yoshioka said Oregon is poised to draw attention with its reputation for high quality and steady presence in key markets.

“That’s a good thing. When buyers go to the show they know there’s an Oregon booth with a variety of new products. If they want to see what’s new or what’s coming, they can stop by that booth.”

Trade shows and missions involving Oregon usually take place in the spring and fall.  During summer, the emphasis for ODA is bringing international buyers to Oregon to see the state’s agriculture at a time when everything is growing or harvested.
