The winter has been very hard on livestock producers across the Northwest.  And to help offset extreme losses, Livestock Indemnity Program Benefits have been made available to Grant County producers.

“The Program is to compensate growers for these excessive losses, and they can receive direct benefits through the FSA offices that can help them counter that loss of livestock,” said Greg Anderson with the FSA office in Ephrata.

He added LIP will cover losses during this calendar year.  Anderson says Grant County producers that have excessive losses need to file a Notice of Loss Form with the Ephrata office.

“We need to have that done within 30 days from when their excessive losses have become apparent.  And we’re kind of getting up to that deadline, so we need to hear from these people as soon as possible.”
