Lamb Weston is looking to expand again to meet the growing demand for potato products worldwide.  The Eagle, Idaho-based frozen potato giant announced Thursday it would build a facility similar to its French fry line in Richland.  The company says the Hermiston location will be on-line in late 2019.  Company officials say the new facility will have the ability to produce 300 million pounds of frozen French fries per year.

This expansion is expected to add roughly 170 full-time jobs in Northeast Oregon.

Just two month ago, Lamb Weston dedicated its $200 million building in the Tri-Cities.  Lamb Weston has more than 4,500 employees across the Columbia Basin.

“The french fry category has been growing at attractive rates around the world, and we believe industry capacity has been challenged in recent years to keep up with continued growth in market demand,” said Tom Werner, President and CEO of Lamb Weston. “This investment in a new french fry processing line in the Columbia Basin reflects Lamb Weston’s continued commitment to support our strategic partners as they continue to grow their businesses in North America and abroad.”
