PNW, National Hop Production Down
Much of the attention from USDA’s recent annual crop production report focused on bulk commodities, like corn, soybeans, and cotton, but there were several Northwest commodities that produced final numbers.
“Looking at hops, a harvested acreage at 41,700 is the lowest since 2014," noted NASS’s Anthony Prillaman. "Production is the lowest since 2015. Lentil production in 2025 is the highest since 2016.”
Hop production nationwide totaled 83.1 million pounds in 2025, down 5% from the 2024 crop. Decreases were reported in each Northwest state:
Organic Numbers Mixed
When it comes to organic hops, USDA noted acreage decreased from 2024 to 2025, but yield increased to 1,615 pounds per acre, well above the 1,355 per acre reported just a year earlier.
