Heinse Named Head Of UI’s Soil & Water Systems Department
The University of Idaho’s Soil and Water Systems Department has a permanent leader. Dr. Robert Heinse, who has served as interim Department head for the past two years, was appointed to the permanent position. U of I’s College of Ag Dean Leslie Edgar made that announcement official last week.
Heinse's expertise is in soil and environmental physics with an emphasis on hydraulic properties of soils and porous media as well as their characterization using near-surface geophysics. He earned his Ph.D. in soil and environmental physics from Utah State University in 2009 and his masters in geophysics from Universität Leipzig in Germany in 2004.
Heinse has been with the U of I since 2009.
