This Saturday is the 29th annual Fiery Foods Festival happening in Downtown Pasco at the Farmers Market.

Executive Director of the Downtown Pasco Association Luke Holliwell said the event has partnered with local farms for a fiery pepper challenge, among other celebrations of the local pepper crop.

“We just think it’s important to keep getting people to support our local farmers and to highlight the spicy food, especially that’s being grown here, served here.”

Holliwell said that some of the market vendors will stay open into the festival and act as a handoff to big event.

Holliwell hopes to enhance the connection between the market and the festival in future years because the festival can expand the market’s audience.

“A way to make it more of a family friendly event. Not that the farmers market isn’t family friendly, but sort of give kids something do.”

Holliwell said they will have bounce houses that come early and that there will also be pony rides to bring more families down to experience the market.
