Farmers Warned To Watch For Wire Theft
Farmers across the Northwest need to keep an eye on their irrigation systems to prevent wire theft. In response to this uptick in thefts, law enforcement is asking farmers and ag workers to
- Regularly inspect irrigation equipment—especially in remote or less-traveled areas of your property
- Install and monitor trail cameras—they’re highly effective in identifying suspects and vehicles
- Improve lighting around barns, pump sites, and equipment sheds
- Engrave or mark tools and wire spools with your farm’s name for easy recovery
- Communicate with neighboring farms—report unfamiliar vehicles or suspicious activity.
In addition, if you see something, say something Call your local law enforcement agency to report thefts, suspicious activity or missing equipment.
