Engage With Supporters & Skeptics, Duvall Stresses
For a variety of reasons for the past year, Washington D.C. has kept many in the farming community up at night. One of the struggles, the Make America Healthy Again effort.
American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall recently sat down with MAHA advocate Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Following that meeting, Duvall told farm country to be willing to engage with supporters and skeptics alike.
It's Important For All Farmers To Be Engaged
"Policy doesn’t move on its own," Duvall noted. "It moves when people show up, build relationships, and tell their stories. That’s why engagement matters, especially in agriculture, where decisions are often made far from the farm gate.”
Duvall added his conversations with Kennedy, Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins, as well as the four leaders of the congressional agriculture committees reinforce the importance of having agriculture at the table early.
Show Up And Speak Out
“These conversations don’t happen by accident. They happen because Farm Bureau is a trusted voice," Duvall said. "Our credibility is built on more than a century of grassroots engagement in every county and every state. If you want agriculture to be understood, respected and supported, we have to be willing to show up and speak up for our families, our farms and our communities.”
