It only took 40 years, but the adjudication of Department of Ecology vs. James Acquavella, et all appears to nearing an end.

A final decree was proposed earlier this month that would include a draft schedule of water rights to be confirmed over the next eight months.

An open house to discuss the decree is schedule for September 6th the Ecology’s Union Gap office from 5-7 p.m.

It all started in 1977 when Ecology filed a petition for adjudication in determining water rights for all use of surface water from the Yakima River. The resulting case and determination will impact around 2,500 users in Kittitas, Yakima, Benton and Klickitat Counties.
