Oil prices and diesel prices continue the holding pattern we’ve seen much of this summer.  According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of diesel decreased one cent in the past week to $2.45, while Oregon and Washington’s prices held at $2.65 and $2.82 a gallon respectively.  And while international issues can change what we pay at the pump very quickly, Marie Dodds with AAA does not anticipate a sharp increase in fuel prices in the coming weeks.

“We do tend to see demand for gasoline and diesel drop off pretty significantly once early September hits and the kids go back to school and the summer driving season comes to an end.”

Dodds told the Washington Ag Network while diesel prices have held steady, gasoline prices increase in 39 states over the past week, much higher than the nine states that recorded an increase seven days ago.

Here are some of the lowest diesel prices we could find across the Inland Northwest:

  • $2.53 a gallon in the Tri-Cities
  • $2.71 a gallon in Wenatchee
  • $2.53 a gallon in Pendleton
  • $2.67 a gallon in Walla Walla
  • $$2.69 a gallon in Quincy
  • $2.69 a gallon in Yakima
  • $2.64 a gallon in Moses Lake
