Diesel Prices Hold While Oil Pressure Eases

Oil prices, and fuel prices increase considerably nationwide following two hurricanes, Harvey and Irma. Now that refineries are back on line, gasoline prices are starting to decrease. But, diesel prices are not following suit.

According to GasBuddy.com, national diesel prices ticked up one cent in the past week to $2.73, Washington average increased two cents to $3.12 a gallon, Oregon’s average increased one cent to $2.94 a gallon. Dan McTeague told the Washington Ag Network diesel prices have moved higher in every corner of the country.

“And not for the reasons that we think, attributable to the hurricanes, it’s demand a d the U.S. selling a lot more diesel to other countries particularly Latin America. Diesel is continuing to be a favored product.”

McTeague said oil prices will either hold steady or move higher because of increased demand nationwide. He noted that for the first time in history, the world consumed over 100 billion gallons of crude back in June, which will help to keep oil prices higher.
