While the meeting was months ago, OPEC’s decision to trim worldwide oil production continues to pressure prices higher.  Marie Dodds with AAA told the Washington Ag Network, OPEC’s vote has slowly pushed fuel prices higher across the Northwest.

“But now, the resulting oil price gains have caused oil companies here in North America to ramp up again as it is becoming profitable again enough for North American shale oil to make a comeback, so it’s going to be a delicate balancing act.”

Dodds noted oil prices will be subject to change over the next couple of weeks, just because of the uncertainty of a new U.S. President.  But after that?

"If we get into a situation where the markets go gang busters, if they like something the administration is doing, chances crude oil prices are going to rise, and likewise, if the opposite happens and there’s some political event that sends the stock market lower, crude oil often goes a long with that as well.”

Here are some of the lowest diesel prices we could find across the Inland Northwest:

  • $2.78 a gallon in the Tri Cities
  • $2.69 a gallon in Wenatchee
  • $2.77 a gallon in Walla Walla
  • $2.79 a gallon in Yakima
  • $2.59 a gallon in Quincy
  • $2.55 a gallon in Pendleton
