Diesel Oil Prices Hold Despite Near Record Consumption
Despite a dramatic increase in the amount of fuel purchased over recent months, diesel prices have held relatively steady. The National average for a gallon of diesel now sits at $2.34 one cent decrease from last week, Washington’s average dropped two cents in the past week to $2.71, Oregon’s average dropped two cents as well to $2.56 a gallon. Marie Dodds with AAA said what makes current diesel prices so surprising, is the fact fuel demand and consumption is currently near 2007 levels, the recent high water mark.
“So it is pretty amazing that we are seeing gas and diesel prices fairly stable this summer. And in fact, in the last week, diesel prices and gas prices headed south.”
Dodd told the Washington Ag Network unless something drastic occurs, filling up the pickup truck shouldn’t been to painful this summer.
“We are going to be enjoying some pretty cheap fuel, especially when you look at summer and the peak of the summer driving season and record demand. SO, I think this is something we will continue to enjoy for the next few weeks.”
Here are the lowest local diesel prices we could find across the Inland Northwest:
- $2.55 a gallon in Pasco
- $2.49 a gallon in Yakima
- $2.65 a gallon in Wenatchee
- $2.59 a gallon in Quincy
- $2.61 a gallon in Walla Walla
- $2.585 a gallon in Moses Lake
- $2.49 a gallon in Pullman
- $2.47 a gallon in Moscow
