The ag economy was already a challenge for many across farm country, and that was before diesel and fuel prices skyrocketed this year.  American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall said these high prices couldn't have come at a worst time.

"The price of a gallon of farm diesel has jumped by more than $2.50 since last year," Duvall said.  "The Administration and Congress must recognize the importance of bringing down expenses for America’s farmers and ranchers. Passing a new modernized Farm Bill and delivering economic assistance to farm country is extremely important."

Duvall added after years of low commodity prices and high supply costs, it's also key that trade disputes must also be quickly resolved to reopen markets for American producers.

"A strong farm economy benefits everyone," Duvall said.
