Despite Winter Storms, Drought Remains Across the Northwest
Despite all of the snow the northwest has received over the past two weeks, the drought monitors have shown little change. According to the latest USDA figures, 88% of Oregon under a Moderate Drought, or the D-1 category, a 2% improvement since February 5th. The D-2 Category, or Severe Drought, dropped from 74 to 62%. The Extreme Drought, or D-3 category, remained unchanged at 11%, all of which was reported in Central Oregon.
Meanwhile for Washington, 58% of the state is Abnormally Dry, 10% is under a Moderate Drought, while less than 1% is a Severe Drought. The good news for Washington, roughly 41% of the state is on par for moisture levels for this time of year.
