While a low-pressure system brought cooler wetter weather to the Northwest last week, it wasn’t enough to put a sizable dent in this year’s drought.  Latest figures from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows while none of Washington is currently under the D-3, or Extreme Drought designation, the portion of the state under a D-2, or Severe Drought, increased from 4% to 10%.

In Oregon, 60% of the state is under a D-1, or Moderate Drought designation.  That’s an increase from the 54% reported just a week earlier.

And in Idaho, the D-1 designation increased from 46% of the state to 62%.  For all three states, the portion of land not under a drought designation has changed very little over recent weeks.
