For the past 14 years, December has been recognized as National Pear Month.  And to kick off the month, Saturday December 1st is World Pear Day.  Pear Bureau Northwest will implement a global celebration for World Pear Day.  Kathy Stephenson with PBNW said the celebration starts a 2 p.m., local time in New Zealand, and they will make stops and have sampling events in more than 24 countries before wrapping up in Leavenworth at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival.

Stephenson said this is a great way to connect with consumers, and they are looking forward to building off of 2017 momentum.

“Last year we sampled over 6,000 fresh pears around the world, we expect that number to be bigger this year.  We had events in grocery stores, at world travel locations, we had a lot of chatter on our social media activities.”

Pear Bureau Northwest will make stops in India, UAE, Brazil and Mexico for 24 hours of continuous sampling and promotion of U.S. pears.  Visit PBNW's Website to learn more about World Pear Day, or National Pear Month.
