The dairy industry is launching a campaign over truth and transparency in food marketing after as many products claim to be free from hormones, GMOs, or some other perceived problematic identifier.

It’s called the “Peel Back the Label” campaign and President of the National Milk Producers Federation Jim Mulhern says, “Consumers have a right to both truth and transparency in food labeling. We launched this campaign to help consumers peel back the label on deceptive food marketing in the name of profits.”

Some of the examples the industry provided included labeling of GMO-free tomatoes, even though no GMO tomato exists, or similar stories with orange juice and salt.
