Coronavirus Surge Continues To Hope Oil Prices In Place

After a few weeks of moving higher, oil prices appear to have hit a celling. Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy said thanks to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, oil prices have held steady around $40 per barrel for the last three weeks.

DeHaan noted it’s not just an increase in U.S. coronavirus cases that’s keeping oil prices subdued.

“There continues to be a rising number of cases in India and South America, some of the biggest petroleum markets.  China has seen some recovery there, but it’s more than offset by a continued rise in third world countries that are large consumers.”

Because of that, our local diesel prices have shown very little change over the past week. Here are some of the lowest rates we could find across the Inland Northwest:

• $2.41 a gallon in Pasco
• $2.29 a gallon in Wenatchee
• $2.49 a gallon in Pullman
• $2.21 a gallon in Lewiston
• $2.28 a gallon in Moses Lake
• $2.27 a gallon in Pendleton
• $2.99 a gallon in Walla Walla
• $2.35 a gallon in Yakima
