Because of the spread of the coronavirus, the federal government announced Thursday that two Columbia River System public comment meetings have been changed.

Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and the Bonneville Power Administration decided that the in-person public comment meetings planned for Seattle and Portland will not be held due to the number of COVID-19 cases.

Those meetings are now phone-in.

On Wednesday, Washington Governor Jay Inslee and Oregon Governor Kate Brown imposed restrictions on all gatherings larger than 250 people. These directly affected the Seattle and Portland venues.
