CHS Unveils Agronomy Hub
On Thursday, CHS unveiled its $18.5 million Agronomy Hub at the Port of Wilma near Clarkston, WA. Ken Blakeman said this facility was designed to hold up to two million gallons of liquid fertilizer and 24,000 tons of dry. He added it will take some time before the full potential of this facility is reached.
“Over a five year period we’ll ramp up to where hopefully we’re greater than 100,000 tons of total product, moving through the facility, hopefully towards 150,000, is probably about the capacity we could handle and turn enough during the season.”
Blakeman said this state of the art facility will serve individual growers and CHS facilities across Eastern and Central Washington, North Idaho and Northeast Oregon. Mel Domine, CHS Regional Director says, they’ve made a commitment to meet the needs of Inland Northwest growers for the next four decades. He adds the Port of Wilma facility has room for future growth and development.
“It’s built for more than just today . It’s built for our producer of today, we an expand it for our producer of tomorrow and we really want to show this is a long term commitment that we’re making to our agricultural partners.”
