If you ask state Representative Bruce Chandler, he’ll tell you the issue with the greatest impact on rural Washington is the Hirst Decision.  So far this session, several prices of legislation have been drafted to address the October ruling, but he told the Washington Ag Network Senator Judy Warnick’s bill has the best chance of moving on to the Governor.  Chandler said the while it is a partisan issue, the lines may not be as sharp as early in the session.

“Some suburban and there’s still a couple of rural democrat members in the House that do not want to see essentially a prohibition or I kind of call it a bribe that has to paid in order for someone in rural communities to be able to  have water in their home.”

Chandler added that will be a powerful argument that could tip some more conservative democrats against the Hirst Decision.
