Butter consumption in the U.S. is at an all-time high.  Wisconsin is one of the country’s biggest dairy producers, and butter is a big part of that production.

“Butter is made from simple ingredients, just cream, and salt, and if you're buying unsalted butter, it is just 100% Wisconsin dairy," said Wisconsin’s “Alice in Dairyland” award winner, Halei Heinzel.  "Our dairy cows make sure we have plenty of cream available to keep Wisconsin's 13 butter processing plants busy, making Wisconsin one of the top two butter-producing states. All this butter finds its way to the grocery store shelves around the country, with the average American consuming six-and-a-half pounds of butter each year.

“Fun fact," Heinzel continued.  "We are on a 50-year high of butter consumption in the United States. Butter contributes to Wisconsin's $52.8 billion dairy industry and supports Wisconsin's dairy farmers and their families, of which 99 percent of dairy farms are family-owned.”
