The Chelan/Douglas County Farm Bureau is accepting applications for this year's Bob Brody scholarship.  The $1,000 scholarships open to high school seniors or first year college students.

"Basically this scholarship is for anyone entering into agriculture," said CDCFB's April Clayton..  And with the number of farmers declining every year and our population growing, it's more important than ever that we get more and more students involved in farming."

Clatyon said recipients must be on a path for a career in ag.  But she noted it's not limited to one specific commodity or section of the agriculture industry.

"If you want to go into food science, food marketing, leadership training in agriculture, even journalism as it relates to agriculture, business as it relates to agriculture, chemistry, soil science is very important, and also engineering, a lot of the robotics that's happening now."
