Bob Brody Retiring from Chelan/Douglas County Farm Bureau
At their annual meeting, the Chelan/Douglas County Farm Bureau honored retiring board member Bob Brody who was retiring after more than 20 years with the organization.
Brody said he was honored to be recognized for his hard work, but noted that the Farm Bureau is really out there fighting for the industry.
“I’m very impressed with the work they do because, believe me, we need somebody to really help us.”
Bob and his wife Charlotte were long-time apple growers in North Central Washington before selling their orchard about three years ago.
Both Bob and Charlotte expressed concern about the lack of knowledge of where food comes from that they would often run into on a daily basis.
“What we tried to do when we went to the big cities is to talk to people and try to educate them.”
Brody said one of his fondest memories was watching the growth of organic apples and being one of the pioneers in implementing it in commercial production.
