2026 Hazelnut Crop Expected To Set Another Record
USDA is out with its latest forecast for this year’s hazelnut crop.
“Oregon's hazelnut production set a record in 2025, reaching 121,500 tons on an in-shell basis, a 26% jump from the previous year," said Department of Ag economist Catharine Weber. "This increase reflects both expanded acreage and higher yields. In 2026, preliminary data from the Hazelnut Marketing Board indicates output will continue to rise. According to the Hazelnut Marketing Board's subjected survey, the 2026 hazelnut crop is forecast to be approximately 144,000 tons, which if realized would be another record-setting crop.”
Weber added demand for hazelnuts is another bright spot for the sector.
“During the 2025-26 marketing year, strong global demand for U.S. hazelnut exports, particularly following weather-related production losses in Turkey, contributed to elevated grower prices and increased U.S. export volumes.”
