Angi Bailey, a nursery tree grower in Multnomah County is the first Oregonian to graduate from the Farm Bureau’s PAL program, Partners in Advocacy Leadership.  She said the intensive training program helped her improve her leadership skills as well as her ability to communicate what’s taking place on her farm.  She said regardless of farm size or commodity, all farmers need to feel like they can share their story, because as she put it, no one can tell your story, like you can.

“And that might be talking to a reporter, that might be sitting down one on one with a legislator, that might be testifying at the capitol, that advocacy can happen in a host of ways.  It might happen through social media, it might be Facebook Live, it might be all kind of things."

Baileys said the PAL program allowed her to grow in ways she didn’t expect, and makes her better suited to stand up for fellow farmers and the Ag industry.

“For me personally, it was really an opportunity to continue to build leadership skills and continue to put advocacy tools in my tool box.”
